Day 2 | Wash your face twice a day.

Katie Marshall
If you don’t wash your face twice a day, your skin is in danger of breakouts due to oil, dirt and makeup clogging pores. Your pores will appear larger and your skin will look dull and textured, instead of having a radiant, youthful glow.
Cleansing helps increase hydration, remove unwanted impurities, and maintain clear, radiant skin. In fact, your skincare products work best on a clean face.
Regardless of your skin type, everyone needs to wash their face. The difference lies in the ingredients of your cleanser. You may be doing more damage to your skin if you are using the wrong products for your skin type and/or condition.
If you have oily, normal, or combination skin, you want to use a cleanser that will get rid of dirt and excess oil. If you have dry or normal skin, a cleanser that won’t over-dry or irritate your skin is the way to go.

November is National Healthy Skin Month

Katie Marshall
November is National Healthy Skin Month and the perfect opportunity to ramp up caring for your body’s largest organ before the harsh winter months to come. The skin is a fascinating system with multiple duties that include protecting the body from pathogens, collecting sensory information, and regulating our temperature. It can be easy to take our skin for granted because we often don’t pay much attention to it until it begins acting up!

The skin has three layers: the hypodermis, the dermis, and epidermis. The deepest layer, the hypodermis, is made of fat and tissues. The middle layer, the dermis, contains hair follicles, sweat glands, and tissues. And last but not least the epidermis, our outermost skin layer, provides a waterproof barrier and contains melanin which creates skin tone.

Although the skin is relatively thin (anywhere from .5mm to 4.0mm thickness) it takes up a vast area (about 22 square feet in adults) and weighs more then one would imagine (about 11 pounds). That’s a whole lot of skin to care for, which is why it is important to follow these simple tips for a more flawless, radiant skin glow.

1. Eat Healthy
2. Don't Smoke
3. Drink Less Alcohol
4. Cleanse, Exfoliate & Moisturize
5. Don't Stress

The well-being of your skin is extremely important to your overall health. Stay focused on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and your skin will thank you for it! Don’t believe me? Try giving up sugar, drink more water or quit smoking for a month and watch your skin transform from dull and dry to glowing and radiant.
